CURIOSITIES & PERSONALITIES
Theatre impresario Karl Margraf and his guests
Karl Margraf is probably one of the most influential personalities in the Merano theatre world in the second half of the 20th century. He arranged for sets from Southern Germany to come to Meran, while the opera festival was once again held in the summer. Paula Wessely and Attila Hörbiger were among the famous guests from the German-speaking countries who accepted his invitation to the theatre. Other notable performers included Magda Schneider, Albert Bassermann, Walter Reyer, Heinz Rühmann, Gustav Waldau, Mario Adorf, Alma Seidler, Erika Pluhar, Ewald Balser, Ruth-Maria Kubitschek, Barbara Rütting, Christiane Hörbiger, Hannerl Matz, Susi Nicoletti, Peter Weck and Judith Holzmeister, among many others appearing in Meran.
